3LAU - Dance Floor Filth 2 (Dubstep / Mashup)

Ladies and gentlemen 3LAU is at it again, with his second installment of Dance Floor Filth, a twelve strong collection of hard hitting bootlegs and edits, your night life will never be the same. Again, another extremely talented young man in the electronic field, at just 21 Justin "3LAU" has been rocking clubs round the world with his amazing blend of top 40 hits and electro beats, branching from house to dubstep and back again. His first album represented my first successful attempt to bridge my music with my friends, which went surprisingly well, but this style requires me to tone it down in places where I need to uphold my hipster image, "its just a remix" doesn't work anymore. Also just a warning driving to this is the most fun you'll have in a car, watch the limits.

Bastille - Other People's Hearthache (Cover/Mashup)

You may not know this but I have tremendous respect for anyone who can use Delta in their name and have it work out well. Although we've only seen this before once or twice each time its something amazing, so to start, props to Bastille. I really wish I could find more info about them online, I feel like whatever facts I have are wrong but if you don't mind I (guess) they are a dance duo from Los Angeles (don't quote me on that). But fuck the facts, whether they're well known or not doesn't matter to me, what does is the music, and by Thor is it amazing. Their album Other People's Heartache, on top of being free, is a masterpiece of modern interpretative electronic, (I think I just made that up) at first I thought it was a mashup album but then I realized what I thought were samples were in fact remakes, covers if you will, performed by Bastille. Each track is a perfect blend of covers and electronic mixing, classic songs remade for a new generation and really I couldn't imagine any one else singing Rhythm is the Dancer, seriously where did this guy learn to sing like that? Now that I've heard it I can legitimately say I can die happy, and I hope I they play this album wherever it is I end up.

Toxic Tuesday 30: Muzzy and SKetcho

Here we are again, so soon, I know I was going to leave it for a bit but then I found something I don't see everyday, a free Monstercat release, by electro DJ Muzzy. The Colours & Distractions EP is just that, colours and distractions, and as soon as I turned it on it filled me with energy, and for that to happen from something other than dubstep is an amazing improvement. I'm just glad no one else is home and that I'm not still at college (I missed my subs...).

So Muzzy Obaidi is a drum n bass/dubstep/house producer from Hampshire, UK, and is my new favorite Monstercat member (top three to be realistic). The release is 21 tracks long (262.9Mb!) and features a remix of Darkness by Kings of The City, and a 13 minute minimix. If you're craving more Muzzy head on over to his Bandcamp and stalk the shit out of Monstercat. Other than that its free there really isn't much to say, so grab it up and KILL THE SILENCE!

So instead of saving this for next monday I thought I would use SKetcho's latest mashup album as the meat in this electronic sandwich. MGM-Jay, a combination that left me staring at my laptop for a few minutes, would this sound good? Do I trust GMAD? Who is SKetcho? And really MGMT and Jay-Z? Lucky for us I took the chance, but you can understand my hesitancy these days the market is flooded with mashups, half of them are low grade, and the other half over played, so it was lady luck who encouraged bloggers like myself to spread the word, and that word is awesome. Fun fact SKetcho also does graphic design for OCD and Aziz, you learn something new everyday. If you're still a little dubious enjoy a preview, then head back up to the mediafire link and if you have any issue with this release please feel free to tell me on Facebook.

Mellow Monday 17: Dan Bull and Wick-It The Instigator

Alright so, its Tuesday, I know this, so let me finish my tea and we'll get right to yesterdays post.

Dan Bull, has to be one of my new favorite rappers, no joke here, maybe its my heritage, maybe its the tea but I love Brit rap; Pro Green, Tinie Tempah, Wretch 32, Plan B, the list goes on, but suffice to say today we've got something special. This may not be the highest produced or most played album on the market today but Face promotes something most rappers don't have, logic, common sense, compassion? Maybe the last one is too far but take some time to read the bio on his website. One other thing I can't get over is how much more he does other than rapping, he has a full list of reviews, help forums, and makes amazing songs for games, which is coincidentally how I found out about him. So check out that album above, its smarter than  most while still being top notch and soulful, and if you don't I'll find you.

DJ Wick-it the Instigator, straight from Nashville, is my new favorite DJ, his new album Grindhouse Basterds is an amalgamation of everything amazing. Dubstep, rap, mashup and amazing quotes in equal measure, my new roomate absolutely hates rap but can't get enough of these tracks, inspired by Pulp Fiction and Inglorious Basterds. Thats why I was confused about what day to post this album, should I showcase the rap, or the dubstep or both? Either way this album is amazing, pick it up and jam the day away.

Mashup Monday 3: Styles & Complete + Brand New Fytch Mashup

Alright folks, I'm seriously groggy today so don't blame me for being a bit late. Also I'm listing to these tracks for the first time as I'm writing this so... on to the musak.

Styles & Complete, two amazing electronic DJs from Charlotte North Carolina. I have a serious problem with chart topping music, radio worthy tunes, and anything I hear coming from my neighbor's stereo, but there's one exception, mashups. I was cruising around GMAD today looking for inspiration and thought I would give it a shot, seeing as how it would be better than going through my history and smashing you guys with stale tracks.

All that being said I don't know if its the congestion thats killing my brain right now but I'm having a huge problem saying anything other than if you're thinking of partyin this week, you need mashups, and S & C have you covered, smooth rap over dirty dubstep tracks, all old school mixing, you can practically see them on stage scratchin and mixin. So grab it up and bump it.

Also because I love you guys and I think every post should have some variety, check out this brand new mashup from Fytch, just my opinion but its something special. Maybe I just have a thing for low end wubs, proper track overlays and vocals that just don't fool around. Maybe its the spacey retro samples, most interestingly its actually a pretty laid back mix, I love it. Also did you know this cat is 16 years old? Talent.
Also I've never really been into Notorious B.I.G. but I'm hearing more and more of his work in mashups these days and I must say I'm attracted to it, if you have a favorite Biggy album or want to suggest which one I should start off with , head on over to Facebook, help me out.

Madeon Mega-Mashup: 39 songs in 3 minutes

A couple days ago I was stumbling well with non other than stumbleupon..when I ran across an article posted by CBS News. It's a good feeling to know that this type of music is now not only recognized in America, but also is now in the news. 2011 is a bench mark for less pop music and more house. Can't you hear it? Obviously artists like Katy Perry, Black Eyed Peas, and dare I say Lady Gaga; but lets admit it she's a class of her own. This influence is also carried from mainstream radio playing remixes of popular pop songs, which in previous years has almost been unheard of, well unless you have a subscription to Sirus Satellite Radio or are creating your own radio stations using Pandora.

Madeon is only 17 years old, but obviously has talent beyond his years. In this mash-up titled "Pop Culture" he mixes 39 songs into a seamless summer hit.

Mashup Monday 2 : Kap Slap and 5 & a Dime

Well its another monday here in the great white north, and after wasting most of my morning playing Minecraft I decided that this post should get done. I guess I doesn't help that I finally got around to getting some new batteries for my mouse, and have a project thats long overdue... we all know thats not going to get done. Its one of those days when I have a hard time concentrating on much anything stressful, so today its all about the variety.

Our first mashup artist today is Kap Slap, a.k.a. Jared Lucas, a DJ from Lexington, MA. At first I was a little tentative about his music, as the first album of his that I got was actually a power hour... which didn't really work for me. My friend that introduced me to his music linked me to a new mixtape that was dropped not too long ago, and well its up there on the list now. Amazingly enough I actually used this album to get my parents into mashup music... that must count for something.

Its amazing the sheer number of artists these days that somehow manage to balance their music and university, when some us have trouble with a blog and college. Complaining aside our second artist is Gregory Kantor from Villanova, PA. He goes by the name of 5 & A Dime and his music is the spice of life. The only problem with being a mashup artist is the fact that when using songs by other artists theres a slight problem with the copyrighting and gaining any kinds of proceeds from the finished product. So we do our best to support them by downloading their music and hitting their shows and I suggest you do the same. Head on over to his website for updates, bookings and more.

(Click to download or head on over to his website for direct links)

This post will boost us up to at least 850 page views, and we are still 5 days off our one month anniversary and going strong. Check us out one facebook for updates and to suggest music. Again I don't own this music, all proceeds and rights are owned by the artists, please support them. The design for our t-shirts is done, in a couple days we should have the first few printed and have a picture up with the designer and his girlfriend modelling them for us. Each one will be unique and if you want one don't forget to leave a comment here or on facebook. Check back tomorrow and keep bouncin! MrFlawedLogic
