Metalstep Monday 3 : Substep Infrabass and Dead By April

I love Mondays, well holiday Mondays, they give me time to locate amazing music and not rush about posting, and what a post we have today.

Introducing Substep Infrabass, lets break it down for you. You start at electronic, then mix in some bass and drop the tempo to get dubstep, the you throw in some eerie noises and the possibility of a metal band and voila! Deathstep.

I've been sitting on this experimental future-bass artist for some time. On dubfuckingstep they classify it as deathstep, but its a whole other variety of said mind blowing genre. Its not really as apparent as the last few artists we've had, there aren't any screaming guitars or wailing demon lyricists, no mind bending blast beats, but a hell of a lot of bass, and thats all that matters. This is next level basstronics and even though it doesn't fit in your standard template of metal you just might find yourself swingin that hair around and punching people you don't know. It gets even better when you mix that sound with Beheading Machine, a Polish mechanical death metal band, yeah wrap that around your little skull. Hit Substep's Soundcloud for a free four track album with Beheading Machine and more dark ambient deathstep than you could fit in a stocking.

Now that we've scraped the sludge of my frontal lobe we can crank the volume, amp the tempo and introduce our next band. Dead By April, a four piece... get this, trancecore band from Gothenburg, Sweden.

I was cruising pop-to-core this morning around five and was instantly drawn in by those words, metalcore/trancecore. I couldn't help but be curious about what trancecore could possibly sound like. In reality this band is along the lines of Abandon All Ships and Attack! Attack!, combining upbeat pop sensibilities with metal riffs and a healthy dose of screaming. But its when the synths kick in and the vocalist calms his gift that the trance section really kicks in. Just writing this I can feel my mind floating a bit, my sleepless night headache is fading and there's a smile on my face. Any music that can do that should be patented and sold to the masses. So grab those albums above, the password is pop-to-core.blogspot.com, yes I stole it but damn who wouldn't share this amazing band. Support the artist and support the blogs I pilfer and have a great holiday Monday!

Hope you enjoyed the post today, Metalstep Mondays are a real treat to research and write cause they don't happen every week, its an occassion and I think it should stay that way. So please support the artists, even if you like thier facebook pages, or download their tracks. Speaking of facebook, like the blogs page here so you can make me happy, come on, you know you want to.

Metalstep Monday 2 : Commissioner and Terrorhate

Its been a very long time since our first Metalstep Monday. But great music like this isn't found everyday. Deathstep and hardcore dubstep are like diamonds, a combination of everything awesome, let to sit under pressure until it creates something completely mind blowing, and thats what we have for you again today.

Commissioner, A.K.A Mitch Lucker, is a genius, that much is certain. What is still unsure is, what is Commissioner? Apparently all this musical mayhem started when Mitch remixed songs by Suicide Silence, then Mitch and fellow artist Big Chocolate got together and created one hell of a monster.

This may be the heaviest weapon I have in my musical arsenal, Commissioner is a biohazard folks. This music will break you and laugh while doing it, definitely not safe for work or the faint of heart. As soon as you hit play you'll be assaulted with low growling guitars, screeching vocals, and dubstep that would be dirty even without the metal. Download it if you dare.

Terrorhate, is the other half of todays crunchy puzzle. George Flett, is one talented son of a bitch, thats a good place to start.

Where as Commissioner concentrated more on accentuating the death metal so liberally dabbed across his music, Terrorhate likes to dip his metal in dubstep. Can't say I blame him. Its almost a  shame to have to put both artists under the label of deathstep, but there are so many other possibly genres to classify them as. This is the choice if you prefer more dubstep than death metal, but be warned, this isn't the tame dub we'll be featuring tomorrow. This classes up there with the angriest dubstep I have, so lets hope you don't need to be nice to anyone today.

Magic Monday : Blackmill and New Playlist

Pure blissful indecision, thats all I have to bring to the table today. Its been a super long weekend driving from college to my house up north and back again, mixed in with dropping off a mixtape and getting my eyes checked. It has just been so tiring. That and the massive stress involved in finding myself not only a job but a co op position in the required field, has made this last month absolute hell.

Thats why today we'll just be having a short post, showcasing a beautiful melodic dubstep song, yes dubstep and beautiful in the same sentence. Not sure if many of you have heard of Blackmill while floating around youtube, but from an early age this producer has had a golden touch with all of his songs. Really more chillstep than anything else, these tracks have the power to transcend everything that has been pressuring you, and just make it all dissapear. This is beauty in its purest musical form.

Those of you interested in downloading the track need just use listentoyoutube.com or leave a comment here or on facebook and I will upload the track to Mediafire.

The second part of todays meager post is a mixtape that I made for a friend that has so far gotten a good review. It contains alot of tracks from previous metal posts and some that I saved just for this occasion. One track is missing and that is Self Vs. Self by Pendulum ft. In Flames but if you downloaded Immersion here a while back you should have that track already. I apologize as the list got a little mixed up along the way.

Metalstep Monday 1 (Stephen Walking and Ephixa)

Welcome everyone to a beautifuly cloudy Easter Monday, which unfortunately is just another day full to the brim with bad news and other BS. So as usual, me being the bearer of bad news, todays scheduled post has been cancelled as The Buddha had some family emergencies on the weekend. So we'll switch it up a bit and throw something new up here for our first ever Metal(ish) Monday.

This weekend wasn't particularily enjoyable for me and I reverted to a genre of music that I had thought long too stale for my ears. I was shocked at what I found. A new genre of metal called deathstep filled my head with the heavy synth sounds of dubstep while screaming voices of rock gods tore my mind to shreds, and I can't say I didn't enjoy it. Read on to have your face torn off by angry DJs and their demonic devices.

Enter DJ Ephixa the first part of our deathstep duo. For those of you as blissfully ignorant as I was, deathstep is a fusion genre between Death Metal and Dubstep. Its bass heavy, mid-tempo grind makes it among the heaviest of genres today and I love it. DJ Ephixa flits around a bit with his music, he does hardstyle, hard trance, deathstep, drumstep and more so it rarely goes cold. Ephixa does most of his work with Stephen Walking, the second part of todays posting, but without further ado let there be bass!

Head on over to DJ Ephixa's Bandcamp page for freedownloads of some of his best works and collaberations.

Stephen Walking, it took me a second or two to get the joke. Like our other favourite zombies, Kanye West and Jesus, Stephen Walking is a BAMF and knows it. His way of taking dubstep songs and adding metal riffs and vocals blows my mind. If I knew something like this existed I would have been right there filling up my hard drive with it. Needless to say I'm making up for lost time and I encourage metal or hardstyle fans to do the same. Again head on over to his Bandcamp or Facebook for the downloads, they are well worth it. Also, if you can please support the band a little money goes a long way. If you aren't a member of the Mulisha then at last give it a listen, maybe suggest it to your metalhead friends and as always let people know about the Daily Beats!

Thanks again for all your support. With this post up we'll soon hit 350 views, which is incredible if you think about it. I had just intended for this page to be a one man show page that maybe a couple people followed, but it has grown to much more than that.  Now we're getting shout outs from bands, we have people wanting to write for us and suggesting music. Its far better than I could've imagined. We started a facebook page yesterday, so head on over there if you want updates about postings or to contact us regarding posts or suggestions. Also because I'm in a terrible but thankful mood, I have a little bonus for you guys. If you are a fan of pokemon, or dubstep, or anything I posted today, give these two links a try.
