Mellow Monday 15: Boxing Day Edition: B.O.B and Lupe Fiasco

Boxing day, its better than Christmas, you get to take back all the socks you got and use the cash for what you actually wanted. Well I found us a couple new albums you won't want to return.

B.O.B, love him or hate him he's taken the scene by storm with last years release, The Adventures of Bobby Ray, but if you aren't all for the high production value radio worthy albums then have I got a winner for you. Last month Datpiff.com sponsored Bob's new mixtape "EPIC: Every Play is Crucial". Short of Saint's Row the Third, "EPIC" is as street as it gets this month in my house, and I for one am fine with that. This release isn't going to be getting mainstream airtime anytime soon, which for me is a bonus, nothing ruins a song like hearing it in the grocery store. So we've established it isn't about pop any more, this is hip hop, Bob's roots, and best of all its free, and if you hit that link above you'll get 15 Datpiff exclusive tracks like, Strange Clouds with Lil' Wayne, Things Get Worse with Eminem and Welcome to the Jungle. Anywho I'm not sponsored by anything fun so thats all the product placement I can handle, grab it up and love it, and if you take it back I'll find you.

Lupe Fiasco, possibly the realist rapper I know of, environmentally, and politically aware and active. Dropped on thanksgiving this mixtape, "Friend of the People: I Fight Evil",  is an homage to how huge electronic music is getting, Lupe drops it over some of the biggest tracks this year, and manages to keep up and keep the rhymes fresh and catchy. Again this tape isn't hittin the stores anytime soon, its a mixtape pure and simple, "featuring" some of my favourite artists, Bassnectar, Nero, M83, The Glitch Mob, and Skrillex to name a few. This mixtape is huge but not many of the tracks are exclusive to it so keep your ears peeled, you heard it here first.

Kept it simple today, two tapes, two artists, so grab em up while they're free and support the artists when they aren't. Also if you're still feeling that Christmas spirit head on over to our Facebook page and give it a like, its all I asked Santa for.

Mellow Monday 14: Kenton Dunson + 3 Great Hip Hop Songs

Alright folks here we are again, first off apologies for the lack of posts but (I say this every week) hopefully I'll be more on the ball this week.

So you remember the last installment of Mellow Monday? Probably not but if you did take the time to listen you would've heard Beautiful Fight by Kenton Dunson, which is an absolute landscape of lyricism and amazing production. Geeking out aside Kenton Dunson is a Maryland born intern... sorry... Rapper/ producer/ instrumentalist who quite his job at an investment firm early 2010 to focus on his dreams, and has been doing well so far. As I understand it he has two full length tapes out, Creative Destruction and the sequel Creative Destruction 2. (Hint: Both are available at his FB page, but big ups to ThisSongIsSick for putting it in the bright lights).

Creative Destruction 2 is a relatively short album, clocking in at around half an hour with nine tracks, all original (as far as I can tell), and all produced by a true artist. Its emotional, soulful, passionate, and true to form and I for one have a hard time believing its free.

Personally I feel I need to do all I can to get this man traffic. I wish I could quite my job and pursue music, forget about it all and chase my dreams, but it takes immense strength and belief to accomplish something like that. So from all of us here on the internet, power to you man, never let the spirit leave the music, or the music leave the spirit.

Lets kick into the next set here with a relatively new track from Brooklyn natives Small Black. As far as I can see Small Black are actually an electro/ synthpop group formed at the end of 2008 in an attic above a surf shop, but lets focus on one particular song. Two Rivers is a thick emotional ride across soundwaves and hypnotizing illusions, but most importantly it features Heems. Heems is one third of Das Racist and if you haven't heard any of their tracks then quickly remove yourself from existence! But I digress expect to hear more from Small Black and Das Racist in the future but in the meantime check out Two Rivers.

So you all know Kid Cudi, and you know he's kinda slowed down with recording these days, but did you know he's doing some down to earth writing/recording with Dot Da Genius? Apparently they aim to bring back vibrant, energetic punk rock with a twist, its supposedly going to be clean, yeah Cudi with no swears, we'll see about that. Anywho whatever they end up doing will draw attention for better or worse, I would say better, but check out the single, Brake, and expect the album WZRD out January 30th.

Frank Ocean, R&B at its finest. I think one of the biggest musical leaps of faith I have ever taken was when I gave his Nostalgia: Ultra mixtape a try. I had never really enjoyed the softer side of hip hop but Frank Ocean had one thing most artists don't, worthwhile Coldplay remakes. Shallow I know but this man has a voice that rends the walls of your heart and leaves you craving more. We All Try, will always bring a tear to my eye, but on to the newest track... Back. Back is a romantic real life story and on top of that it was produced by Dapo (yeah I've never heard of him either). So give it a try and open your mind, and if you're a cold hearted cynical bastard like myself then steel yourself and try not to notice those things called emotions.

Once again I hope you enjoyed today's post, hopefully I will be posting again soon, also expect to hear from The Buddha again soon enough and maybe in a couple months we'll have a track up ourselves. So check us out on Facebook and please support the artists more than you support the blog.

Toxic Tuesday 27: Donimusic + 3 Great Electronic Tracks

Alright folks Shaggy here, bringing you a new installment overflowing with amazing electronic goodness. So you guys know Vancouver right? Yeah all the way to the left of Canada, famous for... having a huge number of druggies... well lets skip that part and introduce you to independent electronic producer Doni.

This is the part where I would tell you a bit about the artist then shamelessly plug in some links and so here is his Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, Myspace and personal website. Anywho all you need to know is that Doni makes not just original beats but remixes worthy of all your monies, and because I'm cheap lets talk about his free album Button Masher.

Button Masher is a three part homage to classic gaming, featuring remixes from Megaman to Pokemon and if you don't like dubstep then you're in luck. As I mentioned this amazing collection comes in three different flavours, Electro-house, Dubstep and Chillout, all for free all containing different tracks suggested by listeners around the world, I personally am working my way through the dubstep version and have been loving it since day one. So while I scrape my teeth off the walls go grab them up and check his website for many more a free album!

So with as much enthusiasm as I can muster lets take a look at three songs that have been rattling around my head and ruining my headphones this week, starting with a Special Features remix of a song I never thought needed to be remixed Deadmau5's Strobe. Strobe may just be my favorite Deadmau5 track, up there with Arguru, Faxing Berlin, Some Chords and of course Ghosts N Stuff. I was drawn to this song thinking it would be horrible and in need of a good trolling... to my surprise I was hit with what seemed a musical shrine to the original track, maintaining much of the beloved progressions and tune, just a little more upbeat. This track is massive and will be putting a spring in my step and a smile in my eyes for some time to come, if this is what can expect from Special Features then we have something very big to watch for.

Strobe (Special Features Remix) by Thissongissick.com

So if you've been hiding under a rock for the last month or so you will have missed the release of Church of Noise by The Bloody Beetroots. This track is absolutely fucking huge, not only musically but I mean this song was everywhere on the internet, I couldn't go to one blog without seeing a huge picture of Dennis Lyxzen screaming into a microphone. Anyway besides the fact this song deserves the attention its been getting, its brand fucking new, and its awesome I mean the vocalist of Refused joined the tour just to sing this song sorry did I say sing? I meant scream, loud, and well, so grab this shit up cause if you don't know then you'll lose your chance to be hipster about it. Also thanks to Chemical Jump you can own the track and the remix by heavyweight Diplo. Cheers!

Last but not least this week we have something new, an amazing remix by dubstep duo Camo & Krooked, not of some mainstream electro song, the James Bond theme song. Yeah you read that right, the fucking James Bond theme, and surprisingly it turned out amazing. Turns out the track was reworked for the new Goldeneye game by Activision. Its only a minute fifty seconds long but this track manages to be that rare song that makes you wish it were seven minutes long, but I digress... James Bond...

Camo & Krooked - James Bond Theme (OFFICIAL REWORK) by Camo & Krooked

Insert shameless plug here, like Facebook page, be better person, seriously who gets this far into the post, just listen to the music damnit!

Mellow Monday 13: Mike Posner + 3 Great Hip Hop Tracks

I'm back and I think its about time to hit you guys with a new post and some brand new tracks.

You may have heard about Mike Posner, 21 year old Michigan raised producer/ singer/ songwriter/ absolute fucking musical genius. Way back when I think we may have dropped a track or two of his but thats up to you to search for, anyway last week he released his third official mixtape, The Layover, and it is one solid tape.

Mike teased internet land for about a week but when it hit it hit hard. Weighing in at 21 full length tracks (almost 1.2 hours of music) The Layover is a homage to the amazing style Mike has essentially pioneered, is chock full of completely original tracks and amazing hip hop remixes. So before you listen to it take a think here, Mike isn't a rapper, yet this tape is hip hop gold, why? 'Cause Mike somehow manages to mix pop vocals with hip hop beats and features top rappers from all over the world, all the tracks (originals that is) were written and sung by Mike (with features) and he produced the majority of them as well. So grab up this groundbreaking album before you hear it on the radio, and cheers to GMAD for being straight awesome.

Kenton Dunson, to me at least is a new face, he's a Maryland native recently full time producer/ rapper/ multi-instrumentalist, and his track Beautiful Fight is a chill hop wonder. Check it out and 1up to TSIS.

Alright still pumped up? You should be cause Chiddy Bang dropped a brand new track, Ray Charles, if this one doesn't go viral then Guido shot first.

One of these days I'll get around to linking you guys to Donald Glover's, sorry Childish Gambino's most recent album, but if you want something a little more fresh and with more than a little emotion hit up his new track Outside. You'll understand when you hear it.

Thanks once again for sticking around hope to keep bringing you tracks forever, stay strong folks.

Trip Hop Exposure Week: EZ3kiel

Welcome to the second installment of Trip Hop Exposure, we have another very short one artist post for you but rest assured the tunes are top notch and the writing is horrible, which is, I understand, everything you've come to expect.

Formed in 1993 EZ3kiel is a dub/electroacoustic group from Tours, France. But what is eleectroacoustic you might be wondering, well for now lets just explain it as another facet of trip hop. Apparently they chose the name Ezekiel in reference to Pulp Fiction by Quentin Tarantino, and upon discovering that the domain with the same name had been taken they did what any self respecting internet user would, added some numbers in. So because Google translate is what it is I can tell you that from 1993 to now the band has around four members and recorded seven albums including a live tour album/dvd. But again if you could turn your attention to the 2003 album, Barb4ry, we can begin today's lesson.

Before we get too far click the album link above for an old download from Sharebee, the password for the file should be secretmusicbox, all one word, if you encounter any problems feel free to leave a complaint which will promptly be rebutted with a recommendation to procreate with yourself and find the link on your own. So unpleasantness aside Barb4ry is a masterpiece of electric music, and demonstrates how far one can take the label "trip hop". Now we know that trip hop is usually the instrumental and downtempo is usually the vocal tracks, well with those labels we start to add "dub" which, you guessed it, means that besides an amazing cultural sound we also gets a wee bit of bass. To completely understand what I mean you should hear the whole album but from the first moment you'll get what I mean by cultural, the eleven tracks that make up this golden album ooze sophistication and that traditional violin/accordion/whatever else they play in Europe tune. The samples are top notch, the vocals are just intense enough to complement the overall sound and who ever was behind the controls had a metric ass tonne of fun. Unlike other trip hop this music will not calm you down, this isn't "chillout" music, this is a blood fueled, adrenaline pumping ride through the mad house perfect for those days you find yourself driving to war not work, be prepared.

Trip Hop Exposure Week: Unkle

Alright so as some of you may know I was planning on doing an educational post about trip hop/downtempo. Well that was extremely hard to do, for one it was a serious bitch to locate original source material, plus have you ever tried to define trip hop? So instead I just decided to do a small post for every day this (work) week, and yes we're now four days in but I've just started raking in album after album of amazing material.

I started getting interested in trip hop when I stumbled onto A|Fragile|Hope and discovered Saltillo. From there I ran a few (four or five) torrents put together by a now unresponsive blog Secret Music Box, these compilations tempted me to dig a little deeper and since then... well lets say my hard drive is straining.

But I digress, Unkle, a trip hop classic is today's featured artist. So Unkle or U.N.K.L.E. are a British duo consisting of James Lavelle and Tim Goldsworthy. Formed in 1994 these chaps haven't stopped yet and have produced many an amazing album under legendary producers such as DJ Shadow. But today I'd like to turn your ear to their 1998 album Psyence Fiction.

Psyence Fiction was their debut studio album, trip hop gold. Just the first song features some 60 odd samples from Massive Attack to Radiohead and back again, and the original American release had fourteen tracks, you do the math. One amazing thing about this album is the variety, with trip hop nothing ever gets stale but with beats ranging from old school hip hop to full orchestral masterpieces that might have come from a movie, this album never fails to dissapoint. So grab it up and stay tuned for more.

Toxic Tuesday 26: Engine EarZ Experiment + 3 Great Electronic Tracks

Alright, today we have another story about me being friended on Youtube by artists that turned out to be amazing. Well truthfully its not much of a story in fact its already over, the continuation is how downright boss this band is.

Engine EarZ Experiment is/are a massive live dubstep/electronic group from Reading, UK. When I say massive I mean massive, boasting a huge lineup of ten people on or about the stage at once. Alternately I mean Triple E is the Massive Attack of the dubstep generation (self proclaimed, but generally accepted).

After the initial trial listen I became hypnotized by the stellar tracks that are kicking around their Soundcloud page and Website, most notably for me remixes of tracks by Nitin Sawhney, and The Streets. Having already been a fan of these artists I was tentative at first, like all music lovers are. I mean most remixes are mediocre at best and tend to do the original no justice but to my surprise both tracks were at par if not better than the originals. Engine EarZ, you have my seal of approval, though it be useless and fictional. In conclusion grab up these tracks, check out their site, and if you haven't any money rip the tracks from Youtube or Soundcloud using ListenToYoutube or SoundScrape (I don't encourage piracy, except when it involves rum).

The Devil and Midnight - Nitin Sawhney - Engine-EarZ Experiment Remix (Official) by
Engine-EarZ Experiment

For the second part of today's (yesterdays) post, we have three excellent examples of why your faith in today's music shouldn't be questioned. Starting today's lineup is a Stumbleine remix of There by Sun Glitters. Chillstep at its best, give it a listen and download (here).

Next is a Soulware remix of Silence by Delearium, grab it here. As I understand Soulware is an experimental downbeat/dubstep group on Optimus Gryme Recording, icing on the cake. This track is labelled tripstep on Soundcloud, and is in my opinion an epic trance/chillstep masterpiece, boasting not only amazing programming and instrumentation but top notch vocals (by Sarah McLachlan) all the while keeping enough of the original to pay tribute to a classic.

For those of you who can't get enough dubstep I bring you an exceptional new track from Milwaukee natives, Deletah. This Sound Dope is nothing if not a party blasting trip on the dubcoaster, so grab it up (here) and rage away.

Thanks again for checking in, apologies for the late post, I figure I'm only a day behind so today's (Wednesday) post will be up Thursday and so on. Also if you feel benevolent check out our Facebook page for updates on this and other blogs we run. Cheers!

Mellow Monday 12: Milo

After a completely unnecessary week long hiatus I figure I should hit you guys with something truly spectacular. Enter Milo, or Rory Ferreira, who I really can't bring myself to call a rapper. I think poet would be more appropriate, or better yet wordsmith. I was made aware of his mixtape, I Wish My Brother Rob Was Here, about a week ago by a very close friend, the same one who penned the Midweek Doom Coma post what seems like eons ago. So this friend, lets call him... Geddy, is my never ending source for some of the best and smartest tunes I have kicking around these days. This tape is no exception.

I Wish My Brother Rob Was Here, is my first foray into the genre of Nerd Hop, or Nerdcore Hip Hop as the internet is calling it. I was dubious at first, confused by the dual rhythms created by the beat and lyrics, baffled by the prose, and lost in wonderment as to where I had heard the tune before. Turns out I wasn't over thinking it, I was under thinking it, the idea isn't to conform to mainstream hip hop, but to take it to a more intellectual level. Some of my confusion can also be explained by the theft of beats from Madlib, Gold Panda, Flying Lotus, and others, very tastefully done.

Overall this mix isn't for the light of intellect, and you might want to bone up on classic literature, and Star Trek before delving too far but once you do you'll be immersed in a world of hidden emotion and deep thoughts. In advance you may rediscover your heart, and your funny bone, fair warning.

Center for Disease Control : Awareness Week 1 : Oct. 22 Cases 1-2

Welcome to this week’s center for disease control post where I subject myself to the harmful effects of popular “viral” music. If I make it through alive I’ll let you know how horrible exposure to this toxic material was and how to keep yourself healthy. So ready your hazmat suits and don’t forget your gasmask, let’s step into the quarantine. *(Note: this post is not sponsored, or even condoned for that matter, by your “CDC” or any of today’s horrible artists, although that would be hilarious)

Case #1: Beiber Fever (Justin Bieber “Mistletoe”)

First up is “Mistletoe” by the most embarrassing artist that Canada has ever spawned, Justin Bieber.

As I understand it this song is about how Justin should be out “enjoying” winter in all its goodness, but instead he’ll be waiting for his “shorty” “under the mistletoe”. Now I know that he’s been spending a lot of time hanging with big hip hop stars like Drake and Chris brown, but damn you don’t get much whiter than this and the gratuitous use of “shorty” just makes this song ten times worse. The song has an obvious Christmas overtone, and a catchy radio friendly chorus, etc, but this song and accompanying video are absolute shit. Raking in half a million views on Youtube in the first twenty four hours, and thousands more as I write this, “Mistletoe” will have infected the youth and musically retarded of America, Canada, Mexico, and Argentina before you can say swine flu. If you can please avoid this song, but if you do succumb I suggest earplugs, and full facial protection, also you might want to wear a condom, because the Beib’s has his rape face on.

Case #2: Yellow Fever (Girl’s Generation “The Boys”)

In the first three days of exposure over 3 million viewers were infected across Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan, “by what?” you may ask… “Girl’s” I would answer.

Now don’t get me wrong, I love me some Asian ladies, but pedophile isn’t on my resume, and watching nine or so sequined preteens prance across the screen for five minutes while rose petals and snowflakes fall is too much. First off this video is in some foreign language that can’t even stay true to itself, and as always the chorus is in butchered, base English (Strike one). Next it ruins its epic intro by breaking down into an uncontrollable disaster of electro pop nonsense (Strike two).  Next, I mean really, 5:20?? (Strike three). That’s almost twice as much as the last video and after about two minutes I already feel as though I’ve been waiting out the half-life of plutonium. I quit the scene after three or so minutes, and I would encourage you to do the same.  In conclusion, high production value and pretty sets  do not justify  torturing yourself, unless of course you like foreign pop music and the illegal sex trade, then please feast your eyes, just get checked after…

Hope you enjoyed this little idea I had floating around my immune system, if this gets any significant traffic then hopefully this will become a Thursday or Saturday post. So if you enjoy my suffering head on over to our Facebook page and make me happy. Also you will have noticed the lack of download or social links, that's because none of these songs should be available to the public and also account for the racist, sexist, and contortionist overtones. Cheers.

Toxic Tuesday 25 : Saltillo + Three Great Electronic Tracks

This Sunday, whilst driving to Guelph with the father  I tried to explain my musical ideology to him. We were having one of our typical music discussions, which usually involve Wikipedia and explaining different genres in simpleton terms, and I worked my way along a very thin thought process till I came to the conclusion that I am the internet version of a wine taster. "Wine taster?" you say, "yes internet" I say, "wine taster". I sample it all and consume just enough of it to relay the facts, and convince other, lesser traveled connoisseurs that I know what I'm talking about. This has happened on  multiple occasions, most notably in grade twelve when I gave a lecture on progressive metal... yeah I pulled all of it out of my ass and snatched the best grade in class, I'm a convincing speaker. So back to the topic, this weekend I found a blog called |A|Fragile|Hope| and on it I found (aside from many other things) an album from Mississippi native Menton J. Matthews III, or Saltillo. This guy is so classy he has numbers after his name, and his music conveys that class with a liberal amount taste.

Ganglion, although from 2006 is by far one of the best albums I've heard all year. It combines everything I want from an album and much, much more. Ok so I've done a lot of story telling and not a lot of explaining, so... it all started with a link to the tag "Modern Classical", of course I was intrigued. Being an aforementioned "Connoisseur" of music my interests span across all of the musical realm, well except for country and mainstream pop/rap, I enjoy music that questions what I know about genres, rhythms, or music in general. I should have seen the tag on the album link, "avant garde", roughly translating to "advance guard or vanguard", I understand it as "before its time, radical, or original" and Ganglion is just that.

At first I was caressed by soft strings, violins and cellos drifting from my stereo and frolicking across my synapses, then the drums and piano kicked in, bringing a depth of sound I could only dream of. I was reminded of the fragile, beautiful musical musings of Ólafur Arnalds, that used to drag my rainy day thoughts deep into a pit of emotion. Then to my surprise and delight the drum pattern changed to a more upbeat almost IDM rhythm. Soon a choir breached the soundscape and heightened the experience to almost unbearable climax of masterful strings, complex beats, beautiful vocals and and the always stoic piano of yesteryear.

Over the epic masterpiece that is Ganglion,  if you dare, you'll be introduced to to a genre of music beyond anything that you'll ever hear on the radio, as something this beautiful cannot be allowed to reach the ears of the masses. They wouldn't understand the complex code created by a master multi-instrumentalist the likes of which we rarely see. Truly this album is the wine of of today's music, much before its time, it requires a complex taste and the time to ferment in your mind. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

I don't think I have ever written enough to be able to fit two pictures in, but truly there are some experiences that warrant more than just a download link and a sentence. Now that I've gotten it all out lets drop some less complex electronic music, requiring just a sentence each.

First up a remix of Kaskade's Raining by Minnesota, Raining (Minnesota Remix) may be just the thing to get rid of my classical music high, its a top notch electronic track, and thats all you need to know.

Next up is I promised by Bisweed, a fairly mystical trance track that I unfortunately put as my alarm this morning, lets say I didn't get out of bed till eleven.

For all you dubstep lovers out there, yes I remembered you, feast your ears on Pump It Up, by up and coming electro DJ Zomboy. Crank it and dance.

So can I get a little love for one of the longest posts I've ever written? Head on over to our Facebook page and leave a like, I think I deserve it.

Mellow Monday 11 : Timeflies + Three Great Hip Hop Tracks

So its been just over a week since my last post and all the excuses I have are absolute rubbish so without further ado lets get stuck in.

Timeflies, are an electro hip hop duo from the Boston area, and have just celebrated their first year of producing. Ever since I found one of their many singles on GMAD I've had a soft spot for anything and everything Timeflies. The closest band I can compare them to would be Audiodax, except here we have Cal writing and singing all the vocal parts with Rob Resnick producing and laying down the beats.

While we're on the topic of beats lets break to a new paragraph and give you some more detail. When I say beats I don't mean your standard hip hop beat, only useful for shaking the fenders of your dad's car, I mean complex arrangements of electronic talent. Not one song has the same melody of the last and the styles of electronica differ from your standard techno/house to dubstep and back, all these tracks would sell as instrumentals but with Cal droppin poetry these tracks are money. Their debut album "The Scotch Tape" is 165.6 Mb of goodness, weighing in at eleven tracks this album will surely be the most enjoyable 49.7 minutes you've spent all day. So grab it up and if you aren't stingy grab it here on itunes for only $7.99.

Welcome to last weeks finest, today I bring you brand new (ish) tracks from Sam Adams, Na Palm and Natnaiel. Be amazed.

I must admit party rap isn't usually my cup of tea but Sam Adams just has a charisma that transmits to his tracks, keeping me coming back for more. His newest release/remix, "Push and Rise", was produced by electro legend Wolfgang Gartner. Give it a listen.

Here at SDB we have a hell of a lot of love for Chicago native Na Palm, his newest single/remix, "Understand Me Now", is no exception. Produced by long time favorite Derek Vincent Smith or as we all know him, Pretty Lights this track, and these artists, are top notch. Turn it up and love it.

Todays last track is another heavy release from Natnaiel, " You Want The Same ". Featuring Mekaiel (yeah that's spelled right... I think) this track, although completely unoriginal, is Natnaiel's take on what we can assume is a love song (Sex rap). Give it a listen and a download.

Thanks one and all for tuning in once again, sorry for the wait, if you can find it in your hearts to forgive me head on over to our Facebook page and give 'er a like, it would make me happy.

Super Sunday: She Said Save Me, Round 4!

Sorry that this is late, yet again. Yesterday was a weird day and a lot of stuff happened, so I just never got a chance to get around to this.

I am here to present to you, the 3rd song from She Said Save Me's new album, 'Today, Tomorrow...Whenever.'

The back story for this song goes something like this: Two aliens are in disguise on earth and meet each other and fall in love. The problem is that they can't be together because of their circumstances (whatever that may be), so they promise to meet each other in the next life.

I love having a personal connection to the artist.

I am going to stop rambling now and just give you the music.

Here is 'Aliens' by She Said Save me.

If you like this song, and want to download it for free and check out some of the other songs while you are at it, check out the Facebook page.

Thank you yet again for your continued support. Please remember to check out our Facebook page to show us just how much you care!

Ciao,
K.

Editor's ABC's : Gorilla Warfare Tactics, Hadouken!, and Interpol

Welcome once again to an adventure through the past and my itunes library. This week has been very hectic so to start lets slow it down a notch.

For those of you without perfect memories lets stroll through time and revisit our artists for G... Gabriel Stark, Gemini, Grieves, and Grilled Lincolns.

Gorilla Warfare Tactics, are a very chill hip hop trio from New York City. Keep in mind I use "hip hop" very loosely, their style is a tough one to label, infusing old school spirit with new school technology and instrumentation. Their mixtape, Premier, although short packs a massive punch and was a smash hit on the sites that were lucky enough to feature it. So grab it up and show some love.

For H we've hadHandsome Furs, Hartford, Hoodie Allen, Hope Of The States, and Hudson Mohawke.

Hadouken! Brush of that fireball and get on your feet! From London, UK, with love Hadouken! may be the most annoying band to try and find at your local record store, when I went when it was first released I had to wait a month and a half for it to be shipped in from the UK. But by George it was worth it. For The Masses, has been shaking my speakers and my expectations for just over a year now and I still haven't gotten past how damn amazing it is. Combining drum and bass, hip hop, pop punk,  and just about everything else into a hard hitting, skull cracking, thrill ride of an album Hadouken! is not an act to be missed.

Amazingly enough we've only had to artists for our next alphabetical sequence, I Set My Friends On Fire and Innerpartysystem, both of which are more than worth a download.

Now we get into the section I was most looking forward to, Interpol. A three piece post-punk revival band from NYC, Interpol is that kind of music that at the start I was very tentative to invest in. The Heinrich Maneuver was playing on Much Tv almost constantly and truthfully it got annoying after oh... the second round, (keep in mind this is before I really got into music). One day I happened across their album Our Love To Admire on sale and took a chance, and I never went back. Our Love To Admire is an amazing rendition of a broken heart, full of cryptic riddles and soul searching poetry, there is not a day that couldn't be brought down to earth by it. So if you have the time give it a try, I promise it won't disappoint.

She Said Save Me: Round 3!

Here I am, almost a week late on this post. I am quite sorry. I am not going to write a whole bunch about the song that I got last week, but I certainly hope that you like it.
I'd Hang With You Everyday, as promised, is cheerful. I believe I described it to some of my friends recently by saying, "It's cute in an it's-not-sad-and-depressing kind of way." I am a huge fan. That's probably partially because I find it so easy to relate to.

While we were discussing this song, Joe (the mastermind behind this) said, "that song was on the back burner for a few years, it is kind of quirky but it seems to make people smile." I'm going to have to agree with him on this one, at least on a personal level.

If you are a fan of this song and want to download it, or are just curious about what the other songs sound like, please head on over to Facebook and show your support! (Remember, free downloads!)

Thank you again for all of the support. Keep on checking in. For Saturday, I will be posting the newest from She Said Save Me. Be excited. I hope that everyone else likes it as well as I do (depending on one's taste in music, I suppose). I can't wait to share with everybody!

Until then,
K.

Toxic Tuesday 24 : Nowonder + 3 Great Electronic Tracks

I love long searches around the internet looking for pictures or links, well I would love them if this post wasn't a day late. Hopefully I can get this post out with enough time for the Wednesday post... if its still Wednesday. But I digress, I figured it better to do this post late than not at all as the material today is off the charts.

I remember last Thursday, I was walking across town after work, it was dark and teaming with rain and stressed out drones honking their horns at anyone who happened to cross their paths. It was a perfect night for an escape, and so I did. I plugged in my head phones and drifted away into an epic world of music and darkness while the rain still poured. I only have one man to thank for my escape, Danny Choi, or Nowonder.

Danny is a Los Angeles based electro-pop producer, largely unknown. I came across his recent EP on TBE and was instantly drawn in by the promise of free music and the chance to hear something new. Nowonder is apparently a one man band, writing, producing, singing, mixing and recording all of his music. His EP "Colour The Concrete" is that amazing kind of unknown experience we are all looking for, blending masterful electronic styles with strings and a haunting voice. I would label it as horribly beautiful melodic ambient that pulls not only piano strings but the heart strings. So plug it in, turn it up and drift away.

Our first additional song tonight will melt your face with a wall of pure sound. Thats right its a new track from Canadian wonder Excision, his new album X-Rated dropped not too long ago and apparently he's keeping up appearances with this absolute banger featuring Messinian, X-Rated (Original Mix).

Our next track is a complete theft from TSIS, an epic new house anthem from J Flash, That'll Work. This is his first single so if you love the track as much as I do head on over to Beatport and support!

I must admit I lost a little faith in Mustard Pimp after they produced a song for Jersey Shore. But all that respect has been restored with the release of their new track, In The Garden (Instrumental).

Thanks again for stopping by, sorry about the delay, expect today's scheduled post tomorrow, hopefully I can get it all sorted out. If you feel like being a better person please consider supporting the artists and liking our Facebook page here.

Mellow Monday 10 : Logic + 3 Great Hip Hop Tracks

Alright first time home in four days, cant say I wouldn't rather still be partying but all good things must come to an end. On a more positive note I had a pretty decent thanksgiving and hope everyone else here in the great white north did as well.

If you remember last weeks post I had a vid by Logic, a rapper from Maryland (if memory serves), when I was searching around my computer for suitable hip hop tracks I realized I only had one track off Young Sinatra. Young Sinatra is not only Logic's handle but the name of his first mixtape, which premiered back early september. You've heard me whine about it before but my internet connection really held me back on this one, Young Sinatra is much more than just a mixtape, its a full length album, rockin twenty two tracks, with artful skits and interludes.

So after I muscled my way across the internet and dropped this on my ipod I had it on repeat damn near all week, the first time I listened to it I was amazed by not only the antique samples and masterful beats, but Logic's flow and the heart he obviously poured into this release. Every track on this album is sheer poetry, boasting everything from heartfelt stories of pain and the past to uplifting tracks that had everyone in the room laughing and jammin. Logic, I apologize for not taking this album seriously sooner, it is a mistake I will not make again.

I thought I would try a new angle this week and post tracks from more "mainstream" artists (today at least), so for your auditory pleasure we have tracks from Bruno Mars, B.O.B. and Common.

Our first track is a brand new release from Bruno Mars, It Will Rain, which unfortunately was written for the new Twilight movie comin out in November, solid song, horrible franchise. So here's your chance to love it before it hits the radio and the big screen.

Next is a new gem said to be the first single from Bobby Ray's upcoming sophomore album, featuring Lil' Wayne. This track has it all, from a sick flow to some damn heavy beats and even a wobble or two, turn it up.

For the finale we have an amazing song from rapper with a conscience, Common. I think its safe to say that Blue Sky contains just a "little" sample from Electric Light Orchestra's song by the same name, this is the second single released for his new album "The Dreamer, The Believer", and like the rest has been produced by No I.D., impressive if I do say myself.

So hit those links above for some amazing hip hop, unless you don't like mainstream rap then please exit the site immediately, oh and be sure to tell me all about it on our Facebook page. Cheers.
